Week after week God is bringing new people to not only worship with us but also to join with us to do His Will. Sunday School classes are growing and many new Bible Study opportunities are springing up throughout the week.

The Women's Ministry has just completed another highly successful banquet and they are now preparing for their spring Bible Study events. You won't want to miss this great time. Check with Carol Nobles for more details.

The Youth Ministry is on a roll. After a wonderful Planet Wisdom experience they are now getting ready to attend WinterJam and then will be pointing their attention to YCW at Branson. The kids are wonderful and it was great to know some new faces.

4 of us were invited to tour the proposed new church and parsonage. It holds some great potential if this is the building God wants for Harvest House. Pray that God will make His will known clearly.

Again satan tried to get us down with a surprise flat tire. But we laughed about it and God used it as an opportunity. While the tire store was repairing it Steve and I had an opportunity to talk to the owner and the mechanic about Harvest House and the block party. Even though they couldn't go they listened and seeds were planted.

As we prepared for the block party it was looking like it wouldn't happen because of rain. At one point it was coming down hard. We prayed and in the late afternoon (about 5:00) it cleared off and the sun came out. That was an answer to prayer but God wasn't done showing His power. The block party ended about 8:45 and at 9:00 here came the rain. And it rained all through tear down. And as we got wet is was a wonderful answer to our prayers. Isn't God good.

The block party was the best yet. There were well over 100 people there and they just kept coming and staying. Last night I challenged Harvest House to do our jobs at the block party and they did. They served, cooked, cleaned and all. It was wonderful to see them serving their own town. Aspen Park they are learning and they will be a blessing to Towanda and the surrounding area.

How do we say goodbye to people that opened their hearts and lives to us? We don't. We will just say "see ya".

Harvest House we love you and will be praying for you that God will pour out His rain of blessings all over you.

See Ya,
Tom

T. After nonstop for a few days Wednesday started with VBS and then we had an afternoon to canvas and make plans for the evening. We cooked hot dogs for the church and had an indoor concert from our Youth Praise Team.

The Church congregation enjoyed the evening but we challenged them to take leadership in Thursdays block party. A challenge was presented to take over our positions and let us assist them so they could do this without us throughout the year.

On Thursday a few of us will be able to get inside the proposed new building to see what the possibilities are for a move. Pray for them as they seek God in this business venture.

T. It started off with VBS growing in number. I'm not sure the final count but it was more than yesterday. We also had teams go out and knock on doors. They had a lot of good responses so we felt confident the block party would be well attended.

Before lunch we went as a team to the new building and prayer walked and celebrated what we believe will be a gift from God to Harvest House. It is a great site and has tremendous potential.

At lunch the majority of the team wanted to eat Scrapple. So I took them all to a restaurant I knew sold it. 10 members of the team ate it. It wasn't bad. But some just couldn't get up the nerve to try it.

At the block party we had the highest attendance yet. It even topped last years biggest. They kept coming and coming. It was a huge success and God kept giving us more. Here's what happened.

While going to the businesses Robert Ringol and Brian Spikes talked a shop owner into letting them advertise the block party on their sign which is like a small billboard. They let them put up all the info for 2 days.

Then someone got the radio station to "give" that's right "GIVE" free air time to Harvest House for some spot ads. They are going to interview Bro. Arnie and air them randomly.

And it gets better. During the block party a newspaper reporter came by to take pictures of the Methodist church next door. She asked Robert what was happening. After explaining it all she decided to scrap the Methodists and right there on the spot she interviewed Bro. Arnie and said the article will be in the paper within a day or two. She also said she would put a picture in of the block party. So I will be buying a paper until we can see it.

It was a truly God-given successful day of PR and advertisement for Harvest House. God did it all because we tried last year and couldn't do it.

We give God all the glory for today and can't wait for tomorrow.
Tom

T. Here's the day in a nutshell.

VBS started with 3 at 9:00 and by 9:30 we had 8 wonderful and energetic kids. All the workers did a great job making it special no matter how many were in their class.

During VBS a group of us went to the proposed new church and strategized how to reach the houses with flyers and friendly faces. Then a group of 4 took off and hit the streets handing out flyers and inviting the people to check us out at the block parties.

Another group went shopping for supplies and because of the limited stores they had to drive into the state of New York to find what we needed. That was an all day affair but all the supplies were picked up and now we are ready to minister through food and games.

Then as a group we went to one of the church members restaurant for lunch and had a great time supporting him.

Tonight we went to ElMira New York and went to a mall and ate at a nice restaurant. This was our one relaxing evening before a nonstop stretch of VBS, knocking on doors and 3 parties around town where we will feed the people and love on them

We need your prayers. Satan is working overtime on our health and some of our energy. We are encouraging each other but this trip is under great attack. Pray, Pray, Pray.

Tom

T. Don't assume the obvious - ask yourself and be honest about it.

Today we celebrated God's day with Bro. Jack Nabors bringing the Word and laying it out for us clearly. What a time of hearing how God can and will use us if we allow him to create us. Today this is said from a heart that is sad and happy at the same time.

For about 3 weeks one of God's great servants and warrior fought a valiant fight. He struggled with blood poisoning and it went downhill from there. But even through his struggle he shone the love of God to all that came in contact with him. Even when I visited him and he couldn't talk - he smiled and made it clear in my heart that he was in God's hands. I am sad but I am happy that he now has that perfect body and he is celebrating with his lovely wife and above all his Lord.

This man was an example of love and compassion for all. From the 4 and 5 year olds he taught to the senior adults he waited on - he ministered through his words yes but his actions spoke volumes.

There is nothing I can say to do justice to this mans life. Thank you God for allowing me to watch this great man minister. For 8 years I learned and listened. I pray I will grow as he did.

So in closing - All I can say is thank you.

Thank You Benson!!!

T. A day in which God was glorified and hearts was not just stirred but caused stirring. The altar was full and that allows God to fill the hearts.

Church you opened up your hearts and checkbooks to commit a tremendous amount of money to God's work. Now the hard part - paying our commitments for the next year. Let's pay down that debt so we can move on to the next building.

In the meantime, encourage each other, invite your neighbors and friends to church and witness for the Lord. Let's stay busy doing His work and He will take care of the rest.

Check back next week for discussion on how to get out of debt and/or stay out of debt.
Bro. After about a month of weather getting in the way of people coming to church we had a nice day (a little cold) and were able to see the church gather together to worship.

I encourage everyone to think deeply about what Bro. David preached on. We are to grab the rope and let God drive the boat wherever He wants. Our job is not to decide which direction to go. Our job is to ski! God will decide which way is best. But if we let go of the rope we may win the battle of direction but we will lose the excitement of skiing! Is your God trustworthy? Mine is.

Join with Bro. David and me as we ski wherever and however God wants. I pray God will bless all of you this week and I look forward to seeing you next Sunday. For those of you reading through the Bible this year with us - Keep it up. Sooner or later they will quit begatten. There is so much in the Word. Let's enjoy it together.

Bro. Due to Christmas, illness, and church family needs I have been unable to post. Sorry for the absence.

This past Sunday our Pastor kicked off the morning with a great sermon on Prayer. The topic is so large there was no way he could even touch on it in just one service so it continued into the evening. If you weren't there I encourage you to get a tape or cd or DVD of the sermon. Contact the library for a copy.

This year has started out with a bang and from mission trips to church wide discipleship projects God has great things in store for us. Make plans now to be a part of all God has at Aspen Park. If you have a burden for a ministry or would like more info about something contact us. This past week everyone outdid themselves. From child to senior adult. From crew to cast. From set designer to singer. It was a weekend to remember. Over and over I keep hearing how this was the best musical in the history of Aspen park. Even if that is true I can say I am most proud of how so many took areas of leadership and excelled under God's guidance in putting this thing together.

A special thank you to Robert Klemple for set design and construction leadership.
Also to BettyAnn Adams for casting and directing our actors.
To Carol Nobles, Sandy Wing and Nicole Miller for their decorating and design abilities with the sets and props.
To all the seamstresses and to our crew for all the special effects and sound/lighting issues to deal with.

You are the best and I am so proud to say I serve the Lord with you. There is not a church anywhere that I would rather serve with. There are area churches doing musicals that don't compare because you are all volunteers that serve from the heart and not the pocket book.

Enjoy the season and thank you so much for your gift of service.
Bro. It is a time where we try to get the focus off of us and on to foreign missions. Yesterday Bro. David presented a wonderful interactive multimedia sermon that should have brought us all to a realization of how blessed we are. I encourage each of you to ask God what your part will be in the Lottie Moon offering.

Don't forget to invite your family and friends to this years Christmas musical - Celebrate the Season. Presented Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 9&10) at 6:00 we expect standing room only. So make plans to be here early and get those good seats. When you come you will be overwhelmed by the set, the beautiful and powerful music, great acting and the multisensory experience. Don't miss out. But let the whole presentation speak to you about who Jesus truly is. God's Son that loves us and gave His all for each one of us.

See you at church,
Bro. I encourage each of us to look at the future benefits in 2 ways. Number 1 - we will receive these benefits as children of God and we can rejoice and anticipate all that God says He has for us. But a big number 2 is what about your lost family members and friends? Don't they deserve those benefits? They won't get them if they stay lost. Stay involved in their lives and keep showing them God's love and witness when the door opens.

On Thursday we all have a chance to celebrate Thanksgiving. As you celebrate wherever you are remember the main one to thank. He gave His Son with nothing in return except acceptance. May we all thank the Lord Thursday for the true blessings and benefits.

Have a great week,
Bro. Today we started with an appointment at a business and was met with a less than desirable response. In fact after discussing the future of some of Harvest House's affairs the person we met with would not shake my hand. As I stood to shake their hand and thank them for their time they turned away and would not even say goodbye. This kind of reception is common place around here to God's workers. Pray protection around Pastor Arnie, Peggy and all the Harvest House crowd as they work daily in this environment.

We then toured a 117 year old Universalist Church for possible relocation. They were very receptive but the building has extensive work needed and is more than likely outside the realm of possibilities. But that's up to God. Pray that God would give direction to the Harvest House leadership of what to do next.

We continued to make plans for the next step of mission trips and needs and the evening wrapped up with a great fellowship time with Pastor Arnie, Peggy, Bob and Pam Yates as well as Brittany and Katie. What a tremendous family with some of the best kids. Pray protection around all the families as they try to stay focused and committed to God's work in a hostile environment.

Tomorrow I ask for your prayers that the flights will be on time and safe and I will make it back in time for rehearsals. Aspen Park I love you and look forward to seeing you tomorrow night.

Thank you to my family for allowing me the time and support to get away and do what God has called me to do.

See you all tomorrow night,
Bro. But again it was a day that God led. Today we started out by running to Elmira and finding a Best Buy to get repair parts for their computer and to buy a speaker for the preschool area. Everything was found and we went back to the church to start work. All went together well and they are up and running again.

Bro. Arnie and I then sat down and started seeking God about future mission trips as well as needs. The needs are many and we will pray as a church to see what God wants us to do. After a time together talking about where they are on different issues we then went looking for buildings. As many of you know there aren't many options but we have some leads. Tomorrow we have an appointment at a church facility in which the church has "GROWN" from 200 to about 3. That's right three (3). They are trying to find someone to rent their 100 year old building. Tomorrow we will see just how run-down it is.

We also have a few leads on big buildings as well as an abondoned school. Just start praying and let's see what God shows Harvest House over time.

This evening proceeded with a Finance Team meeting and I was allowed the privilege of reviewing their financial picture and I was even allowed to make suggestions. It is always touchy making suggestions about someone else's finances but all went great and everyone's heart in the meeting was in one accord that it's God's money. Aspen Park has an opportunity here as well to assist that will be presented over time.

Well after a long day it's time to download the camera of building pics and to write down notes before I forget. Keep doing what God has told you to do Aspen Park and we will have many opportunities in the future to be involved wherever He wants us.

Bro. I don't think it got above 40 today and the wind was blowing but God's presence warmed my heart in the services. It is great to see what God is doing. Just since our mission team was here they have almost doubled. In fact probably half of the people I saw today I didn't see in July. God is so good.

Pastor Arnie, Peggy, Brittany, Katie and many others wanted me to say HI to everyone. They pray for us daily like we pray for them. Aspen Park your prayers are working and we need to stay the course. As I have said before, I wish I could bring everyone at Aspen Park to see this but all we can do is show through a few of us what God is doing.

I will attempt to update this blog daily to keep you up on what we are doing and how things are going. I am sure things went great there with Daniel leading my Bible Study class and Robert leading in worship. Thank you gentlemen for leading out and allowing me to come do God's business in Towanda.

It is a blessing and pleasure to serve with a church that allows me to go and do and a church that is ready to go themselves when the call goes out. Get ready Aspen Park God has a lot of work for us here as well as other places. Get prayed up and wait for the call.

See you Wednesday night,
Bro. David started us down a journey of understanding the Holy Spirit. Or as much as humanly possible to understand. For too many years we have allowed other denominations to scare us away from using the Holy Spirit concepts by thinking it's something mysterious. It's time we accept it and utilize all of God.

The Holy Spirit is a person that was sent to comfort and guide us. If we leave Him out we are leaving out a third of who God is. This next Sunday Bro. David will continue this powerful teaching. I challenge you to be there to continue the journey. If you can't be there make sure and check out the DVD from the library afterward.

Don't forget this Wednesday is our annual Community Thanksgiving Meal at Oliver Middle School. Jack Nabors

What a great blessing it was to sit under the teaching of Bro. Jack Nabors. When the decision was made to have him step in for our Pastor while he was on vacation I knew this would be a great day. He has a heart full of compassion but the fire is still burning intently for the lost. As the morning message progressed he became more directed at Heaven and how we need to view ourselves and our friends.

Then in the evening service he spoke to "home folk" about not giving up but stay the course and get to work. This topic is one that most ignore but the timing was truly God. Since Sunday I have heard from a number of people that Bro. Jack was speaking straight to them. In fact I even talked to someone that heard something so totally different than what I heard that I can only respond with "That's God saying what He wants to individual people". Bro. Jack reminded us that God has His own accounting system and He keeps books His way.

I am so glad God is in control of things. They get too complicated and busy for me. Thank you Bro. Jack for teaching us what God has already told you.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tdcm.blogspot.com/2006/10/bro-jack-nabors.html' title='Bro. Bro. Arnie from Towanda challenged us and encouraged us at the same time. He shared what God has shown him for Towanda and is allowing us to partner with him in the great things God has in store for that community. Harvest House ahs a bright future but our question is simple. Does God want us to partner and be involved personally with Harvest House in these days.

Aspen Park I encourage you to lift up this question to our Heavenly Father and wait upon His answer. What a blessing. Over and over we hear about churches firing, pushing out or just not liking their Pastor and we have been so blessed by a Godly man for 16 years. Great job Aspen Park for staying focused on God's task and not just what we like.

But where do we go from here? What are we going to do for the next 16 years? Under God's leadership through Bro. David the future is bright. God continues to grow us numerically, spiritually and together as a family. Don't ever take that for granted. Cherish your Christian family and pray for them daily.

Have a great week and know that God has great plans but there's one question. This past week Gabriel Peter and his band presented a great concert that rocked the roof literally. The youth and adults that attended thouroughly enjoyed it and we look forward to the next time we bring Gabriel in.

As we look ahead here are the highlights.

Oct. 8 - Recognition of 16 years of faithful leadership by our Pastor. Join us in the 10:30 am service as we recognize Bro. David and Billie and share with them how much we love them.

Oct. 15 - We are bringing in Bro. Arnie and Peggy Johnson from Towanda Pa. to get to know us and share what God is doing in Towanda and the surrounding area. He will be sharing God's Word and Ministry to us in both the 10:30 am service and the 6:00 pm service.

Oct. 29 - 5th Sunday - You know what that means "POTLUCK TIME". Bring that food (especially the chocolate pies) and let's join together for a family potluck meal.

Lots happening - don't miss out!
Bro. Our Pastor has just completed a series about the qualities of God. The underlying theme is God is love and all He does is for our benefit. Wow - what a concept. If we could grasp the fact of how much love that is why would we want anything else.

Sunday Bro. David reported to the Church that Bro. Arnie and Peggy from Towanda will be joining with us on October 15th. This will be a great day as God leads Bro. Arnie in what to share with us. Make plans now to be in both services to hear from God's man.

This Wednesday the youth ministry will be celebrating the nationwide See You at the Pole event. In the morning at 7:00 they will be joining with other Christians around their school's falgpoles for worship and prayer. Then at 7:00 in the evening Aspen Park will be hosting a concert for any youth and their parents. We are bringing in Gabriel Peter and his band from 7 - 8 then we will move to the multi-purpose room for pizza, ice cream, ping pong and other games and give-aways. Encourage your young people to be a part of this great day.

Keep your eyes on the Lord and He will bless your life.

Bro. The rain came and came and came and then after church it came some more. It was a welcome sight to the many months we prayed for rain. The service as well saw a rain come but it was a heavenly rain.

Our Pastor challenged us to love others with the Godly love shown by Jesus on the cross. There were no excuses or conditions just the statement "I Love You". May we all learn that truly "God Loves You". It was great. I lost count but there were many more then Monday's party. We had a Nascar group bring some games and Jupiter Jump we served hot dogs with all the extras and sang.

The day started with the usual VBS experience. We were back up with 15 kids.

We took the afternoon off and many of our team did some sightseeing.

Tonight we heard many stories of how we have given life to a struggling church. They are beaten down and tired. We were sent by God at just the right time. You will here many stories when we get back.

Person of the Day"

Carla has been a trooper. She has popped popcorn, sang, served snacks, painted, etc. etc. Whatever was needed she did. She even went on a journey to find a store and when she got lost she kept looking until she found it. We couldn't have done it without her.

Tami is the organizer of all organizers. She put this thing together months ago and it showed as we went through the week. I can never say enough how critical she was to the success of this week. Thanks Tami.

Denise is the partner of all time for me. She gave it all and kept giving. At every turn she was loving the people and encouraging them while sweating to death at times. I thank God for giving me a partner in ministry with the love of His work like she has.

This team has been blessed by God from the beginning and it showed this week. We had our struggles but in the end the hearts stepped forward and put aside personal differences.

See you when we get home.
Tom

T. We did what some said was impossible. We remodeled the entire building and had it ready for a grand opening by 6:00 tonight. In fact we finished by 3:00 and went back to the hotel to rest. Then we went to the church and cooked dinner for them while they wandered through their "new" building. They were so excited. Person after person shared their thanks to the team and our church in Broken Arrow.

Today in VBS we were a little down with 11 kids. But it went great and the kids are learning alot. Parents continue to sit in the Bible Study and learn right along with their kids.

Then we spent the afternoon finishing the building.

This evening we had a grand opening and a celebration service in which the Youth Praise Team and Praise Team sang. We shared a few testimonies and then fellowshipped with their congregation afterwards with donuts.

Great day in the Lord.

Person of the Day:

Steve - From sound to electrical to carpentry. He does it all. On this trip he has quietly plugged along and is always looking for the next thing to do. He runs errands, gets supplies, cooks for the whole church and much more. He is a real blessing.

Michael - A witnessing example, a blessing to our youth, a cook, a painter, a singer, (you get the idea) he has a heart to help. What more can I say. We are all better off by knowing him.

All the youth - from helping in VBS to the shop ministry to serving food to singing. They have been willing to work nonstop wherever they were needed. We have the best youth and they really showed their stuff this week.

Well I share more tomorrow.
Tom

T. Now we have been labeled the street cleaning people. Shop owners are looking for us every afternoon now. That allows us to talk even more to them. A few shops even give donations to Harvest House for our gift to them. The field is growing. The reaping may not happen while we are here but I know it will be ready soon.

Today we had 2 different familes say they are coming to "checkout" the church Wednesday night and it was all due to the block party last night.

The remodeling is flying by. We have the entire building painted and now we will start recreating the rooms and sprucing them up. The sound system and new Computer system is up and running and today Tami taught 2 people how to run the computer projection system. We are going to refine the wiring of the system and then it should be completed.

Tonight our team night turned into ministry night but that's what we wanted. We did go out to eat and went to a mall but we invited 2 families that needed encouragement and support. We took them to dinner and treated them and then walked around the mall talking to them and getting to know them. Satan has been tearing them down for some time and this was the first time in a long time they felt loved by Christians that loved them for them and not because they probably had to. The church has loved them but sometimes God uses others to make a greater impact.

It was the best day of the week and the kids are responding in a great way. Keep up the prayers.

Tomorrow has VBS, more remodeling, Shop Ministry, Cookout for the Church, and an evening service. A full day but we pray a successful day for our Lord.

God Bless and I will talk to you tomorrow,
Tom

T. It's 12:15 am Tuesday and I just got to my room from meeting with people. Here's how the day went.

9 - 12 VBS - Great time. We had 8 kids and the spirit was great. This church has never had a VBS so we were excited to see kids coming. The parents even stayed in and watched and they got good Bible teaching and even did some of the activities with us.

12 - 1 - Lunch and regroup time

1 - 4 - Remodel and Shop Ministry. The remodel is going fast. We have painted over half the building and have started rearranging the furniture per Robert Klemples design. The church members are popping in to see what we are doing and they are pleasantly shocked. Robert the colors look great.

We also had a group go into the Main Street area and sweep, pick up trash, shake hands and just let the people know who Harvest House is. We had a great response and the people were fairly friendly. In fact a few shop owners even let us put flyers in their windows advertising the block party.

5 - 9 - Block Party. HUGE, HUGE, HUGE SUCCESS!!! I can't say it any better. We fed well over 70 people and many more came by but didn't eat. Wewere right downtown and this community walks everywhere so probably 70 more people walked by but didn't stop but they heard our music and watched. harvest House members helped out and the comradery between our churches was wonderful. The church next door (Methodist) even participated by surprise. A gentleman came and ate with us that we believe was the Pastor. He came over and asked what we were doing and we invited him to eat. He did and even sat down and listened to our Youth Praise Team sing. We also had one of the young couples walk by and join us.

We are looking forward to Thursday doing a block party again at the same location. But rain is expected all day. We ask the Lord to change that because we do believe a major impact is possible.

From 9 - Midnight - Tami and I met with the Pastor and their finance people on budgeting, P.O.'s as well as checks and balances within the church. The meeting went well but they are on the front end of a long process to see where God will take them. Pray that the people will get behind the budget and tithe. Thank you Aspen Park for all you do. Your money is making this trip possible. We are using your money for ministry in Towanda.

Person of the Day:

Diane - Diane is a working fool. She jumped out there today and headed up the painting. She started at 9:00 this morning with George painting in a back room and by 4:00 when she stopped she had about 5 people painting and half the building is completed. She didn't even stop for lunch. We brought her back some food so she would eat. Then she made snowcones for 3 hours at the block party in sweltering heat. She is a real trooper and it is evident she was suppose to be on this trip.

Well it's now about 12:30 so I need to get some sleep. A long day again tomorrow starts soon.

God bless you all and keep praying we feel it.
Tom

T. We all got in the cars and headed off to church. But when we started interacting with the people God started opening up the lines of communication. We attended Sunday School and Worship with them this morning. Then after lunch the work started. Here was our day in a nutshell.

12 - 1 Lunch

1-3 Unload the trailer, start setting up for VBS, Setup for evening service, Sound check for Praise Team and Youth Praise Team, move furniture in preschool and childrens area in preparation for tomorrows remodeling.

3 - 5 Conferences with Harvest House members and staff. The following Conferences took place all over the building: Praise Team, Worship, Media Library, Childrens Choir concepts, Youth Leadership and teaching, Sound and Vido Projection, Computer Basics.

5 - 6 Get ready for evening service

6 - 7:30 We led out in evening service and had fellowship time with members afterward

7:45 - 8:30 Dinner

8:30 - 10:00 met with Pastor Arnie and Peggy at their house - Great fellowship time.

As you can see it was a great day. I mentioned that I would share something unique about why somebody was to come on this trip. I have 2 for you.

George - A young lady has wanted to participate and maybe lead out in library ministry but didn't know how to do it. George was the man for the moment. He came ready and now there is excitement in this young lady for what God can do in Media Library

Ashleigh - There is a young lady that is into demolition derby and hunting. This was right up Ashleigh's alley and there is a real connection being built there.

There's more to say but it's 11:00 right now and VBS is fast approaching. So I will close. Please pray for us as we are hitting some resistance. Even this evening a local basically told me off in a restaurant about how things are done. When I tried to deal with a buffet situation of cleanliness by not using a utinsil that fell on the floor he proceeded to tell me that "we don't have health rules around he and I needed to get over it." There was a reference made to me that I'm not from around here and (then he stopped). So I just smiled, said I was sorry for the confusion and went to my table.

We are just nipping the iceberg to the anger that abounds here towards God's work. But we expected it and as it says in Joshua 1:9 ". . Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go". We claim this verse and will stand on it this week.

Have a great day and I will talk to you tomorrow.
Tom

T. We rolled in about 4:00 this afternoon. Satan continued to throw things at us even as stupid as cancelling our rooms the day before. But God knew it and kept them from being rented out even though they are sold out. Diane flew and beat us to the hotel and she took care of getting us rooms. God is still in control

We met with Pastor Arnie and his wife Peggy. We toured the church and settled a group into their basement. We drove around the city and went out to eat. We then had a relaxed time and while some swam in the hotel pool others met and we laid out a plan of attack that will start tomorrow.

We will be attending Sunday School at 9:15 and Worship at 10:25. Then the fun begins after lunch with the unloading and setting up.

But for now all is good and we are settling in for a relaxing evening. We are praying for you and ask you to pray for us. We don't know what will happen tomorrow but we do know God is in control and we know we are to be here. Already I am seeing why certain ones were to come on this trip. Each day I will share with you some unique things that are related to why certain people were to come.

Have a great day tomorrow in God's house wherever you are and I will talk to you soon.

Tom

T. But as the day progressed we could see that we were going to have to entertain ourselves to make sure we take things as they go. We ran into countless miles of construction and then we got word that the bridge at St. Louis was down to 1 lane with a 2 hour backup. We detoured around it for an hour and then ran smack dab into stopped traffic on the freeway in Illinois. We sat there for about 45 minutes.

Long story short we got to our hotel in Ohio 2 hours late. It is now 10:40 and we are checking in and settling in for a short night. All are well and God is going before us so keep up the prayers. and we will do the same for all of you.

Tom

T. It's not that I thought people didn't love and support me and my family but to actually see and hear it was moving to say the least. As we progressed through the day and people kept reminding me what God was doing in our midst it became clear that many were grasping the bigger picture. It's not about us - it's all about Him.

Thank you Aspen Park for 7 eventful years. Some events were not so pleasant but most made it all worthwhile. From multiple services to transitioning. From restructuring to redoing. We have gone through more in 7 years than some churches do in their lifetime. But you have remained faithful and open to what God has.

But what about the next 7 years? The service was started by us but God quickly took it over and it flowed as He saw fit. In a number of places things took place that were not orchestrated and definitely not planned. I want to thank each of you for allowing God to take over your talents and skills and letting Him do some creative things.

From the lighting to the instruments to the vocalists all lifted their talents to God. Thank you choir for the wonderful expression of giving in a service that nothing short of total submission would fit. This just goes to show others in other churches how critical all are to the furthering of the Word. Choirs still hold a place in leading in worship and if we ever get to the point of just allowing a certain age group, or a certain skill level, or a certain style choice to lead us only we have gone back to a design that was changed when Jesus came and died. We all can and must come to the Father and we all must lead one another to the throne.

This week look for the opportunities to encourage one another and to invite someone with you to church this next Sunday. Have a great week and I will see many of you this Wednesday in rehearsal.

Bro. Anyone wanting a DVD of the Christmas musical can purchase one for $10.00 from the Worship Arts Ministry. Get one today.

But as the new year kicks off we pick up right where we left off in 2005. Today was a great day and all I can say to the Worship Choir is - GREAT!!! From the choir special to the Praise Team to congregational singing it is clear that Aspen Park is a church that loves God. But is it a church that outwardly shares that with a hurting community? That is where we need to take a serious look. God has blessed us in so many ways and now is the time to reach out and share those blessings with people who may not even know they need help.

Ask God where you can be involved in His work in the coming weeks and months. Find out where He is and join Him and that way you will know you are in His will. Have a great week and I will see you at the Community Thanksgiving Meal this Wednesday. We have enjoyed the trip but miss our church family. This morning we had the pleasure of worshipping at Immanuel Baptist with Bro. Terry and Bro. Larry. Bro. Larry and the Music ministry was superb and not just because they're big and good. But with a leader like Larry it is clear that God leads that ministry. Then we experienced a sermon from a Godly man that loves his church and his Lord. He challenged us to pray not only more but continuously. If you ever find yourself in Wichita on Sunday don't hesitate attending a service at Immanuel Baptist.

On Friday we went to visit Tim Ohls who is now pastor at Believers Baptist Church in Wichita. He recently moved here from the Tulsa area. This church is about 4 years old and is growing like a weed. It runs about 180 and in the next 5 years should have about 30,000 people move within 5 miles of it. It currently is surrounded by fields slated to be subdivisions.

These are 2 churches you don't hear about where we are and I wanted to share with you what God is doing. But even with those great things it is equally exciting to see what God is doing at Aspen Park. The only thing holding back the floodgates for Aspen Park is US! As we heard this morning "If you lose your hope you lose your passion". In our situation we need to make sure we keep our hope is in the Lord and our focus will become our passion.

So Aspen park stay firm in the Word and God will direct our path. We love you and miss you. We'll see you next week.

Bro. Both of those merited comments but how many times can you say "Great"? But the real test at this point in our ministry is to see if these kind of God blessed, spirit filled services become the norm rather than the surprise. It appears to be happening so the novelty is gone and God is moving on a weekly basis.

This past week in the office I saw people helping people, I recieved emails of encouragement and support, and I heard about people wanting to know what they can do to let their light shine in their community. Wow, what a week. But that's what happens when God's people get His vision and follow His path.

May we all see and experience God in a unique way this week. Have a great week.
Bro. It brought us to God's Throne and allowed us to see a small glimpse of heaven. From Autumn's monoloque to Sheps song. From the beautiful and powerful choir special to Bro. Davids words of challenge and love. We experienced a service that churches dream of and strive for and thanks to God's annointing on His people and your willingness we experience it regularly.

Now it's time for the warning. Stay true to His Word and forsake not the assembling together of the saints for His glory. If we think we did it we failed and next time God may let us do it in our strength. I don't know about you but I can't do it without Him. I am not talented enough or smart enough to "pull off" what happened in the service. So let's keep watching Him and He will direct our paths together.

Bro. I know it has been a slow and in some cases painful experience but it is well worth it. As the rehearsals this evening progressed there was a peace throughout that was nice to feel. For weeks we have struggled with sound, lights and even our own sound from the choir. This was to be expected which didn't make it easier but at least we knew it would end.

So to Steve Dobbs - Great job on those lights. Keep it up and provide for us a palette of color beauty to accent what we are doing on the stage.

To Joseph Hookham - Keep up the good progress in learning and refining the sound. A new building is tough but in time I know it will be second nature.

To Tina Brodie - Your creativity and spontaneity is very refreshing. The video presentations are a tremendous asset to our services.

To Vance Hunter - Your expertise and willingness to try and learn more is wonderful. The video recordings have been a nice surprise and I look forward to new things on the horizon.

These are just some of our tech that support those on stage. This group doesn't get any credit when it's good but gets all the blame when it goes wrong. So hang in there and know that God knows your heart and reason for being in the hot seat.

God Bless You and I will see all of you Sunday,
Bro. Sunday was a truly awesome experience of excitement and anticipated anxiety all rolled up in one. God's new worship center at Aspen Park gave us an experience that we won't soon forget.

From Bro David, to everyone on stage, to the tech crew, to everyone in the congregation I saw excitement in the eyes and adrenaline wanting everything to be just right.

Now we need to turn our attention to making the worship center a true center of Godly worship. This is a choice each one of us must make on a daily basis. So let's pray for each other to keep our eyes on the Lord and watch what He will do in the months and years to come.

T. That of the observance of the Lord's Supper. When a church body comes together for this special time it has the potential to move hearts and change lives. Today that occured and we may never know the full extent of what happened. But it was easy to see and hear that God moved.

Aspen Park we must stay focused on the prize and let God do the rest. Stay the course, run the race and in the end no matter what God wins. As christians that means we win. Enjoy the victory while we live the life and encounter the struggles.

Pray that we will all stay on task and lead others to the Christ we know and love.

T. Just today I talked with one of our leaders and it reminded me why God has brought me to this place at this time. He has stocked this church full of finely tuned race horses ready to run. But as with any stable working together we must all follow the trainer. It is my responsibility to discern from God what we need to do and convey that to all of you. As I shared this today and read the heart of a worshipper I also felt so unworthy to be leading. This comes from my burning desire to work with and accomodate all to use their talents for God. There are times though that it is tough to hold back some of my own desires and styles of worship for the good of the church. But I also know that Aspen Park is a church that loves and supports based on heart and not just head knowledge.

So please accept my shortcomings at times as a real heart for God and ministering to all of His children. At the same time we must continue this transition to the next step God has for us. If you were to ask me what that is at this time I would have to say "I'm not sure but God will show me in His time". My personal prayer life right now shows me that the move to a new Worship Center is a positive part of the transition but at the same time it is a scarey move for some. It is also an exciting move while at the same time will cause distress in some. But the real issue is not what I want or you want but rather what does God want.

In the past 2 or 3 months we have had conservative services, contemporary services. We have sung Hillsongs music, classical music, 50's music and southern gospel. We have had solos, duets, praise team, youth praise team, children's choir, worship choir, congregational singing, instrumental pieces, etc. etc. - Do you see where I am going?

It is hard when we are so multi-talented to put a finger on who we are or what we do. But Aspen Park I see that as a major strength. Our strength is in our continuing growth to a diverse mindset. Another major strength is the diverse group of musicians both vocally and instrumentally that God has amassed in this place. When I was asked over 6 years ago by the Aspen Park search committee did I want a band or orchestra I said both. When asked if I saw this church having a choir or praise team I said both. My response then and still now is "Why can't we allow God to use all those that He brings in whatever strengths and gifts He gives them." Today I was reminded by a loving brother the passion he feels to the music and gifts God gave him and even though I never have had all the answers I know my heart and my brothers heart and God will contue to find us faithful in what He has given us to do.

So in closing, get ready Aspen Park we are about to see some changes under God's direction. What are those - I don't know. But if we aren't growing we are dying. And part of growth is change. So hold on and just watch what God does.

I Love All Of You,
Bro. As I went from place to place I encountered Aspen Park members and attenders that couldn't help but talk about what God is doing. Some I talked to personally and some I just saw from a distance but it was so neat to see God's people out doing their thing.

From Walmart (David) to Mazzios (Alecia, Austun, Rachel) to Warehouse Drug (Shawn) to many other places it's so good to see God's people around town. We are to be witnesses to all. Living with them but not become them (loose paraphrase). Our influence goes a lot further than just Sunday morning. This should also remind us to be His witness in all we do because we don't know who's watching.

Keep up the good work Aspen Park,
Tom

T. The 2 services were full and the energy started the service but as we progressed it was obvious that God was taking over both services. As I looked into the eyes of worshippers God was moving in their hearts. What an experience.

After the services many spoke to me about the feelings and "goose bumps" they felt and that it was totally God. Choir you sing wonderfully and the people responded. The outburst of applause was as hearfelt as it was spontaneous. Our congregation is learning how to show their appreciation as well as the depth of their worship. Thank you Aspen Park for allowing us to be ourselves in all the music we do.

Now as usual the bar goes up and we strive for more. Easter is next weekend and it should be just as meaningful and I am looking forward to seeing what God does. Where did they all come from and how many more will God bring? These questions should not surprise us but they do every time God opens up the blessings. Aspen park we must proceed to an understanding that God works by a different standard when it comes to numbers and people. He doesn't want just a few more, or a hundred more - He wants them all. That needs to be our theme in life. Not just one more but all of them.

In fact I am going to re-title this blog entry to Not just one more but all of them.

Let's ponder that thought a week and see where God takes it.

Bro. With rain (again) the thought was that many would stay home. But as the day progressed they came and then more came and when it was all over the building was about full.

Then the service kicked off with a worship leader that, thanks to allergies, couldn't sing. But God moved and the experienced went past our voices. The youth did a great job as usual and Shep well you are just Shep. Great as usual.

Then our Pastor shared a powerful word that God used and moved the people. By the time the service was over 1 had accepted Christ as Savior and Lord, 1 joined the church by baptism professing Christ as Lord, 2 joined the church by transfer of letter. And the people rejoiced in what God is doing.

God is great. From married to single He's bringing them. From active to non-active He's bringing them. And from Christian to non-Christian He's bringing them.

The fact is that from November to now we have seen more first-time guests walk in our services than we did all of 2004. Why is that? Well I believe it's because we stepped out in faith to build what God wanted us to build. Now we must do 2 very important things.

#1 Complete the first step. We must remain faithful and financially support the construction of the building. This will take everyone since the undertaking was more than we could do anyway. Let's let God do His part by us doing ours.

#2 Take care of the guests. We also need to minister to the many He is bringing. Denise and I have taken it upon ourselves to try to get into as many guests lives as possible. We are utilizing taking them to lunch, setting up visits during the week, emailing, writing letters, calling and many other ways to let them know we care. My question to each of you - What are you doing to make people feel welcome?

The people are coming - What are you doing to make them want to stay?

Bro. As we proceeded through the day it was tremendous to see people of all ages and backgrounds worshipping and loving on each other. This is truly a church that loves God and loves His people. One of the most telling signs is how fast (or slow) people leave the property after services. Every week there are people just standing around talking and even out at their cars they are conversing with no sense of time or schedule. This gives a feeling of how important their church family is to them

Keep it up Aspen Park.

T. We toured our new worship center under construction. It is not often you get to see a building under construction but to go into it with the church family that is paying for it is an awe inspiring feeling. As I looked around I found it interesting that all generations were talking to each other. I also saw people introducing themselves to those they didn't know. The question is what caused people to meet others in a building under construction that was very cold but wouldn't do it in a heated nice facility. Well as the afternoon progressed I prayed about it and God gave me my answer. It was Him. He was all over this new building. This creates a family atmosphere unlike anything we have experienced in a long time.

Aspen Park what we saw today was God's family getting to know itself. We are a fast growing, diverse, unique family and in most cases you don't know everyone around you. So how do we get to know each other. There's only one way - perserverance. It's going to take hard work to get to know family. At family reunions you may not know everyone but you make a point to try to at least introduce yourself. Well the same is true in our scenario. You may not become great friends with everyone but I challenge you to work hard at at least introducing yourself to everyone you don't know. Try it - you might be surprised what God does.

Have a great week,
Tom

T. Because after all I said Sunday we needed to practice since we have had a few weeks off. But as the day progressed the weather men kept warning of the worst to come. And as most of you know, when we get any ice our parking lot ices over and due to the slope you can't get out. So to be safe we cancelled all activities.

This hasn't caused a great deal of stress for specials but the fact remains "I Miss You Guys"!!! It has been 4 weeks since our last rehearsal and I love it when we get together to practice and worship together. So needless to say I will REALLY be looking forward to next weeks rehearsal schedule.

Have a great week and be safe.

T. It never ceases to amaze me how God brings the music and message together in beautiful harmony. But when He then aligns it all with the observance of His supper it moves beyond amazement and goes to awesome.

The experience alone is meaningful but this past Sunday was a true visit from our heavenly Father. It is great to weekly see what God is doing in our midst.

The Sunday evening was a relaxing time of singing the old songs and listening to a verse by verse sermon on Jude. Our Pastor sure knows how to speak the truth in an aggressive way. Thank you Bro. David for your commitment to excellence.

T. As the day progressed the spirit was wonderful and the true Spirit moved in ways no one could have planned. One by one individuals shared that various aspects of the services touched them in personal, meaningful ways. Only God can move simultaneously in such different ways.

Today we experienced the exact reason for the need for the new Worship Center being constructed. With standing room only services it should not surprise anyone why God has directed us to build. But what does surprise me at times is why He uses us to lead His people to His throne. I don't know about you but there are times that I feel so inadequate to lead but with His love and support I have the strength to step out. Likewise each one of you have shown the same love and commitment for our Father.

As Christmas rushes upon us let me encourage you to slow down and enjoy family, friends and even yourself. After all, God made you the way you are so celebrate all you have to give back to God. Then ask God to prepare you for the year ahead. Look at the crowds and the excitement - it is obvious that this year will hold the unexpected. Let us all look for what God will do "with" us.

God Bless each one of you and have a great Christmas. See you next Sunday.
Bro. The people came and you all gave. When the choir and orchestra warmed up this morning it was evident something special was going to happen. But noone could have predicted what was to follow. As the song started it was good but as it continued it became a song that will stand the test of time as one of the best.

The question we need to ask and answer is "What was different today?" That answer is a total reliance on God. Yes months of work is in the background and years of talent and rehearsals play a part but what it comes down to is a total reliance and a concept that we cannot do it without God. You all obviously stepped out and risked your talent to see what God could do with you and WOW He worked up an amzaing special.

As we go into this week we must not sit back and smile at this morning but rather enjoy how God used you but now look at what God can do with you Saturday and Sunday. Plan now to experience God in a new and fresh way as we present "The Gift of Heaven" to APBC, Broken Arrow and the surrounding communities. This morning the building was packed, almost SRO, and this weekend we expect just as many.

Truly God is getting the blessing,
Tom

T. Let me point out a few of my observations.

1. The services are considerably longer but noone's complaining - Why?

2. The music is quite varied in style and very different for our people but noone's complaining - Why?

3. The energy level and commitment level is rising - Why?

These three questions conclude with one answer. This is a God blessed and directed journey. When God guides us all other things fall into line. But sadly, there might be a few that have chosen not to be involved in this journey. I would encourage you to pray for them and invite them to join with you as you learn from God's Word.

From this point on I will attempt to share things with you weekly. Every Sunday I will write in this journal so I invite you to check back each Monday or whenever to see some of my thoughts and things God is showing me. But I would also like to hear from you. Respond to a journal posting so we can learn from each other. We are stronger when we team up and strengthen each other through our thoughts and prayers. So check back often and give your thoughts and ideas.

See all of you Wednesday,
Bro. Who can walk away from a service where we are reminded who we are without grace and not be moved? Noone in actuality. If they aren't moved it's because they aren't listening or are purposefully closing their spiritual ears. This does them damage but also hurts us. By one of our own not listening to God and growing we are obligated to bring them along and teach them. This causes a slowing down or using of manpower and resources to do what should have already been done.

With that said let me set before you a challenge. As we prepare for 40 Days of Purpose are your spiritual ears open? Are you listening and even more important do you want to listen? If God says something, which He will, will you know His voice?

If you answered yes to those questions praise God and let's see where God leads us. If, however, you answered no or I don't know then pray about it or come talk to me. We can seek God together on this journey. Don't miss out on what God is doing and don't slow up your church by having them slow up to wait for you.

God Bless all of you and I will see you Wednesday,
Bro. The powerful messages he has shared are truly from the Lord because of the relevance and alignment with Scriptures. The litmus test is the Word and his sermons have passed. But the real question is:

We may have heard but will we obey?

This question must be asked by us all because as a family satan will try any means to get in. Let's all make sure we are not the weak link in the body.

Now for the future. God has a lot for us and I will be challenging all of you to rise to the challenge. I know you can do it or I wouldn't be asking. But in some cases God will be providing the know-how and strength. For example, we have a team going on a mission trip in September and just tonight the Youth asked about a mission trip in October. Then you mix in 40 Days music and Christmas - we have our hands full. But under God's strength and direction it can and should be done.

I am praying for you all,
Bro. From spirit-filled music to strong, Biblically based preaching it was a day where God arrived in force and anyone who didn't experience Him wasn't seeking Him.

As a Music Ministry you shown through your music as only God can shine. The sound was tremendous but the spirit is what was noticeably different. All music aside the service flowed with the blessings of the One who ordains and guides His own worship. Then as we led the congregation to the throne it was equaled only by the power and conviction of a spirit-filled man that preaches from the abundance.

Bro. David exemplified what it means when we say preach with conviction and passion. Bro. David is truly a man that cares for the lost and Sunday he challenged us from the Father to care for the dying and go out to win them. Church if we don't it is not because we weren't told. I want to go on record as saying "thank you" Bro David for the challenge and the example you set daily
for us.

May we all have the passion that our spiritual leader preached about,
Bro. Wow - when Bro David started calling our veterans to the front by decade it was a moving moment but then when the choir and orchestra started playing and singing "We Say Thank You" wow! There weren't too many dry eyes in the place. As we proceeded through the song it was evident that the length of thanking them would outlast the song. So when we made the jump back into the middle of the song you all did it like seasoned professionals.

This was one of those days that will go down in the hearts and minds of all in attendance. So on behalf of the whole congregation - thank you musicians for a job well done that obviously came from the heart.

Now onto other things. With last months wild ride behind us it is time to look at what God has for us. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing with you what the fall has in store. It will challenge and please you while at the same time provide worship experiences like the one we had today. So be prepared to work but also be prepared to experience a new and fresh walk with the Father.

See you all Wednesday,
Tom

T. It is only right for satan to be mad and cause confusion in God's house. After all, we are doing what God wants so he will try to derail us.

To the Youth - I am so proud of last week and the great time we had worshipping, studying and just being in God's presence together. You are by far the best youth around and it reminds me why Steve and Terri love working with you. Keep up the good work and this year will be better than the last.

To the Music Ministry - You never cease to amaze me how you are there when I need you and hopefully I am there for you when needed. Tonight I was attacked in ways I couldn't explain and probably won't ever be able to explain but I know you are there for me. Denise and I love you guys and we will persevere one way or another. Remember this, what God has joined together let no man put asunder. I know He was talking about marriage but I also feel that is appropriate for us. God put us together and I refuse to let man tear it apart. I will stand as firm with you during these times as you have with me.

To Bro. David - There is only one thing I can say - You are the best!!! That includes Spirit-led, God-ordained, and my personal friend. Preach it the way it is and God will reward in ways sometimes we can see but also in ways we may not see. Remember what Jana said about your last sermon - WOW!

I love you all and look forward to Sunday,
Tom

T. With the majority of us back from trips it was great to be at full strength. And then to walk into a standing room only worship center in the middle of summer was an additional great surprise. As we went through the service I also realized we had many that were in vacation and to see SRO I wondered where would we put everyone in the fall. But I guess we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

At the time of writing this it is 9:15 PM on Sunday June 20th and I am going to bed soon because a few of us are leaving at 4:00 am to go to Falls Creek. We will have the greatest year ever at Falls Creek not because of the numbers but because of the great sponsors and youth. When you here from me again I will be sharing with you the great things God showed us throughout the week. Check back on Saturday evening the 26th of June for a preview of what will be shared on Sunday.

As the summer progresses enjoy the vacations when you can get them but don't forget the business of the church goes on whether you are there or not. So that's right keep tithing and cover your teaching positions.

Have a great week and I will talk to you next weekend.
Tom

T. How is it that Aspen Park is so blessed to have the committed workers we have for VBS? Did we do all we could to plant seeds of faith and water them as the week developed? These questions and others ring through my ears as I think about the week.

I would like to thank a few people in particular for a job well done.

To Tami Dobbs - Thank you for your leadership and example of servant heart as you truly gave your all for the kids.

To Renee McCormick - Thank you for literally all you did. From teaching to shifting classes to help stall when class schedules were off. You were truly what I call velcro. Strong but flexible.

To All the Directors for persevering under changes and large classes you were great.
And a special thank you to Tina Brodie in how she guided the K - class. One 5 year old told his mother that this was the best time he has ever had and he was upset that it was over. Tina you are the best. Keep up the good work for our Lord.

Thank you Aspen Park on behalf of myself and BRo. David for your hard work and sacrifice as we attempt to raise this generation in the nurturing of the Word. May God richly bless all we do.

Bro. It's now 6:20 pm your time on Wednesday May 26th. God brought you all to mind so I thought I would check on you. With a great Bible Study teacher (Bro. David) and a creative musical leader (Dan) there are a number of reasons why you should be at church. Don't pass up an opportunity to be in God's house.

We are in Michigan at Denise's parents house and having a great time. We are struggling through 60 degree weather and relaxing with nothing to do but eat, sleep and read. This is rough. pray that all of you will take time to get away. We all need it at different times.

As God takes us on this journey just remember that satan will try to derail us as often as possible. Keep your eyes on the Father and He will direct our path. You notice I said "our" and "path" singular. We are one as a team and as a body of believers. We are in this together so enjoy each other.

Have a great week and I will write again when possible. I love you guys and look forward to being back with you on June 6th.

Bro.
